Payroll Specialist
Company: Phoenix/Biltmore- 51/highland
Schedule: 8-5pm, flexible on in time M-F (can start at home, then drive in after traffic on days in office) Hybrid- 3 days in office, 2 remote (flexible on days in office vs remote)

Reports to: Payroll Manager

- Must be a great multitask, proactive, goal getter, can manage their time well, have accountability
- Weekly payroll for 850 EEE
- Construction payroll is a plus
- Kronos/UKG or something similar would be a huge plus
- Strong, basic excel skills (v-lookups)
- Team player and willing to help the manager when needed
- 2+ years of full cycle, solid payroll experience – open to more seasoned, careered payroll specialist
- Does require drug screen – no medical cards
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure payroll data such as time worked, salaries, garnishments, PTO time, benefits and 401-k deductions.
- Review payroll computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
- Record changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, loan payments, other deductions for each employee.
- Calculate and prepare manual checks and update the system with the information; process moving expenses, performance awards, and severance payments.
- Explain payroll and time recording policies and procedures; research and respond to inquiries from management, employees and third parties.
- Prepare, balance and distribute payroll funding requests to Accounting; prepare and enter adjustments in system to correct and update employee records.
- Review time entry validation and other payroll reports to verify accuracy of time entry and resulting pay implications; follow up to ensure accurate and complete payroll entries.
- Reconcile payroll related activity accounts and interact with accounting to clear reconciling items.
- Excel knowledge with the ability to develop and maintain spreadsheets.
- Maintain company and employee payroll records, including earnings and deductions and tax withholding setup and maintenance; periodically audit accuracy of system data.
- Provide input and assistance for payroll projects; maintain documentation of payroll processes and procedures and recommend changes.
- Perform administrative functions including responding to employment verifications, maintaining payroll files, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
Required:
- Proficiency in software skills to create spreadsheets and databases and to extract information; familiarity with payroll processing data systems.
- Strong math, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks concurrently; ability to work under high stress and deadlines; ability to work in a confidential environment.
