    The Payroll Specialist manages the weekly payroll process and maintains employee employment records and issues payments while complying with Gerrity's company policies and tax regulations. The Payroll Specialist ensures all employees get paid the correct amount at the right time. The Payroll Specialist will handle sensitive pay information, including salary information, routing numbers for direct deposit and Social Security numbers (SSNs). The Payroll Specialist works closely with the Human Resources and Accounting Department at Gerrity's Headquarters.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Process Employee weekly payroll.
    • Verifies employee's time for accuracy or discrepancies
    • Determining hours for overtime, holidays and PTO
    • Calculating benefit deductions and other withholdings
    • Update payroll systems with new hires, terminations, promotions, salary changes and banking changes for direct deposit
    • Handles tax withholdings, benefit contributions, wage garnishments, and retirement deductions
    • Oversee employee I-9 verifications process
    • Providing relevant payroll reports to Management for review
    • Providing support for employee inquiries related to payroll issues
    • Stay up to date on payroll regulations
    • Process employment verifications and paperwork
    • Act as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding paychecks, deductions, or taxes
    • Maintaining employee records related to payroll data
    • Assisting with internal and external audits related to payroll
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree in accounting or business preferred.
    • 2 to 5 years of payroll experience preferred
    • Proficiency in Microsoft office, Microsoft Excel, and computer and data entry skills
    • Experience with payroll systems like Peoplesoft, Dayforce, Deputy, Logile, and Paycor preferred
    • Ability to lift up to 30lbs.
    • Understanding with federal, state, and local payroll tax and employment laws
    • Ability to calculate hours, overtime, taxes, and garnishments accurately.
    • Strict adherence to privacy protocols regarding sensitive employee financial records.
    • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, problem solving skills, communication skills, and written skills
    • Ability to hear, speak, and understand the spoken word.
    • While performing duties, the employee is regularly required to stand, and utilize full hand and digit functions, reach with hands and arms while manipulating objects.
    • Ability to read, write, analyze, interpret and understand the English language with sufficient proficiency in order to read and understand.
