Payroll Specialist

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with our Cincinnati-area client to find a Payroll Specialist for an immediate contract-to-hire opportunity. Pay: $25.00 to $28.00 per hour

Schedule: First Shift, Monday through Friday

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio

Position Type: Contract-to-Hire

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll accurately and efficiently while maintaining employee records, ensuring compliance with payroll regulations, and providing support for payroll-related inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll accurately and on time for employees
  • Review and verify employee time records, attendance, overtime, and payroll adjustments
  • Maintain and update employee payroll information while ensuring confidentiality
  • Process new hires, terminations, wage changes, benefits deductions, and other personnel updates
  • Respond to employee payroll questions and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Assist with payroll tax reporting and year-end payroll functions, including W-2 preparation
  • Reconcile payroll reports and assist with accounting support functions as needed
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Generate payroll reports and assist with audits and recordkeeping
  • Perform additional payroll and administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Previous payroll processing experience required
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage confidential employee information with discretion
  • Experience with payroll software such as Paycor, ADP, UKG, or similar platforms preferred
  • Accounting or bookkeeping experience is a plus
