Job Description

We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to support enterprise payroll operations by processing payroll, maintaining employee payroll records, auditing payroll data, resolving payroll issues, and ensuring compliance with company policies and payroll regulations. This position will be a contract and remote. Candidates local to the Pittsburgh, PA area may be required to visit the office periodically.

What You'll Do

  • Process payroll accurately and on schedule for employees across the organization

  • Review, validate, and maintain employee timekeeping records to ensure payroll accuracy and policy compliance

  • Administer payroll-related activities for employees on leave of absence (LOA), ensuring proper documentation and pay processing

  • Perform payroll audits and reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies

  • Enter, update, and maintain employee payroll and personnel data in HRIS and payroll systems

  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries and provide timely issue resolution and customer service

  • Maintain payroll records and support payroll compliance requirements while safeguarding confidential employee information

  • Partner with HR, Benefits, and Finance teams to resolve payroll processing issues and support payroll operations

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance payroll accuracy, efficiency, and data integrity

What You'll Need

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • 1-3+ years of relevant payroll, HR, administrative, or related experience

  • 1+ years of experience using Workday and UKG

  • Data entry experience with strong attention to detail

  • Experience performing payroll audits and reconciliations

  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive employee information

  • Experience responding to employee inquiries and providing customer service

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel

  • Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly

Preferred:

  • Advanced experience with Workday and UKG

  • Multi-state payroll experience

  • Payroll-related certifications

  • Workday certification

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor

$25-$28 per hour

The pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
