Description

Overview:

Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of payroll while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This role maintains data integrity within the payroll system, resolves payroll - related issues, and provides support to employees and managers regarding pay, taxes, deductions, and timekeeping. The Payroll Specialist works closely with HR, Finance, and management to ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and efficient payroll operations.

 

This position is onsite Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm: Barrington, IL. 

 

What To Expect:

  • Accurately review, validate, and analyze payroll information (e.g. hours, pay, incentives, deductions, time sheets, etc.) for processing during payroll cycles and distribute pertinent documents when necessary
  • Post payroll related transactions in accounting software
  • Ensure PTO balances are accurately reflected in software
  • Facilitate necessary communications with the payroll provider, employees, and related parties
  • New employee data collection and set-up and information necessary for tax filings 
  • Employee rate, benefit, and status changes 
  • 401(k) transactions, health and dental insurance withholdings
  • Establish, maintain, and build a strong relationship with our Payroll vendor 
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and system/process refinement as business needs change. This also includes the financial “Fast Close” process and reporting cycle, with emphasis on timeliness of results and accuracy.
  • Address payroll-related inquiries from employees in a timely and professional manner

What You Will Contribute: 

  • Associates degree preferred but not required
  • 1-3 years experience in Payroll with exposure to Paycom preferred
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles, including but not limited to posting to the G/L, balancing a journal entry, and investigating prior payroll postings
  • Must effectively demonstrate the ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in written format
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and able to learn job specific programs/applications
  • Character qualities of Dependability, Discretion, Diligence, Thoroghness and Orderliness

  • Initial phone interview with hiring manager
