Description

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist 2 to support day-to-day payroll operations, HRIS data integrity, timekeeping, payroll audits, employee inquiries, reporting, and continuous process improvements. The ideal candidate will have strong U.S. and Canadian payroll experience, excellent customer service skills, and hands-on experience with enterprise payroll and HRIS systems.

Job Responsibilities

Manage daily payroll service functions, including timecard maintenance, HRIS data integrity, payroll processing, time accruals, and reconciliation of data across multiple source systems.
Ensure payroll activities follow applicable federal, state, and local regulations and established processing procedures.
Manage payroll-related inquiries within defined SLAs while providing research, issue resolution, and ongoing support to employees, HR, accounting, benefits, retirement, and payroll/timekeeping teams.
Serve as a Level 2 support resource for payroll inquiries received through ticketing systems, phone, email, and other service channels.
Troubleshoot payroll and timekeeping issues and implement appropriate solutions.
Review payroll processes and documentation to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and continuous improvement.
Manage leaves of absence and calculate supplemental benefit payments.
Support Senior Payroll Analysts in delivering accurate and timely payroll services.
Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports ranging from basic to intermediate complexity for internal and external stakeholders.
Support payroll-related projects, including gathering user requirements for system enhancements and process solutions.
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll audits and other periodic and cumulative control activities.
Perform payroll accounting activities, including general ledger postings, accruals, reconciliations, and validation of payroll expenses.

Qualifications

3+ years of U.S. and Canadian payroll experience, preferably in a third-party payroll, shared services, or enterprise payroll environment.
2+ years of customer service experience with demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
Hands-on experience with enterprise payroll and HRIS platforms such as UKG Pro (UltiPro), UKG Workforce Central (Kronos), UKG Workforce Dimensions, Workday, or similar systems.
Experience troubleshooting payroll-related issues and resolving requests using established procedures as well as creative problem-solving.
Experience with payroll audits, controls, quality assurance, and/or payroll tax management.
Payroll accounting experience, including GL posting, payroll accruals, and reconciliation of payroll expenses.
Strong ability to interpret, create, and communicate written, verbal, diagram-based, and schedule-based instructions.
Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively while managing priorities and meeting individual and team objectives.
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.


Preferred Qualifications
APA Fundamental Payroll Certificate (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience supporting payroll operations in a high-volume or shared-service environment.
Experience with payroll service ticketing systems and SLA-driven customer support.
