Description

Our client, a financial services company based in Philadelphia, is hiring a Payroll Manager to oversee payroll operations for a multi-state workforce of over 600 employees. This role manages a small payroll team and works closely with HR and Finance to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with payroll systems, multi-state tax compliance, and process improvement. This position reports to the Director of Finance and serves as the primary point of contact for payroll audits, year-end reporting, and system implementations.

This is an on-site role based in Center City Philadelphia, offering the opportunity to modernize payroll processes and mentor a growing team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all employees
  • Supervise and train a team of two payroll specialists
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare payroll reports for Finance and executive leadership
  • Oversee year-end processes including W-2 and 1099 filings
  • Manage relationships with payroll vendors and benefits providers
  • Lead system upgrades and process improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5 or more years of payroll management experience
  • Experience with multi-state payroll tax compliance
  • Proficiency with payroll systems such as ADP or Workday
  • Strong understanding of FLSA and wage and hour laws
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Experience supervising a payroll or accounting team
  • CPP certification preferred
