Kforce has a client that is seeking a Payroll Manager in New York, NY. Summary: Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations and payroll accounting functions for a complex, multi-faceted organization. This is not strictly a payroll processing role. The ideal candidate will possess a strong combination of hands-on payroll processing expertise and payroll accounting experience, including reconciliations, journal entries, tax reporting, audits, and general ledger interaction. This position will be responsible for ensuring payroll accuracy, regulatory compliance, financial reporting integrity, and effective coordination with payroll, HR, finance, and external service providers. Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the complete semi-monthly payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payroll administration
  • Review and validate time and attendance data prior to payroll processing
  • Oversee payroll deductions, garnishments, special payments, bonuses, and other payroll transactions
  • Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries and ensure payroll data is accurately reflected in the general ledger
  • Perform monthly payroll account reconciliations and investigate variances
  • Complete quarterly payroll reconciliations, including Form 941 reconciliation
  • Partner closely with Accounting and Finance on payroll reporting and month-end close activities
  • Ensure payroll liabilities are accurately tracked, reconciled, and remitted
  • Support audits by preparing payroll schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
  • Coordinate with federal and state agencies regarding payroll tax matters
  • Manage payroll-related compliance, internal controls, and documentation
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries from employees and management
  • Work directly with the outsourced payroll provider to resolve issues and maintain efficient payroll operations

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of payroll management experience
  • Strong payroll accounting experience is required
  • Demonstrated experience with: Payroll reconciliations; Payroll journal entries; General ledger postings; Payroll tax reporting; Month-end close support; Audit preparation and support
  • Experience with managing an outsourced payroll relationship
  • Strong understanding of payroll compliance, tax regulations, and internal controls
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
