Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to lead and oversee all payroll operations for our organization. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while managing payroll systems, maintaining internal controls, and supporting a high-performing finance team.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, expertise in payroll regulations, and a proactive approach to process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee full-cycle payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across all pay periods
- Manage and supervise payroll staff, providing training, guidance, and performance oversight
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
- Maintain and audit payroll records, reports, and procedures for accuracy and compliance
- Coordinate with HR and Finance teams on employee data, benefits, deductions, and reporting
- Administer payroll-related aspects of benefits, including 401(k), garnishments, and tax filings
- Review and reconcile payroll accounts and general ledger entries
- Handle payroll audits and support internal and external audit requests
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices
- Serve as the point of contact for payroll-related inquiries and issue resolution
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred
- 5+ years of payroll experience, with at least 2+ years in a supervisory or management role
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
- Experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or similar platforms)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tools
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
- Experience in property management, real estate, or multi-entity environments
- Familiarity with multi-state payroll processing
