    Department: Business Office Division: Business and Finance

    Number of hours per week for which this position is budgeted: 15

    Number of months per year for which this position is budgeted: 12

    Reports to: Human Resources Exempt __ Non-Exempt X

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Payroll Coordinator works out of the Business Office and is responsible to the Vice President of Business and Finance. The position is part-time and does not offer benefits. Employee must possess a vibrant, personal Christian faith including a clear testimony of Christian conversion and be actively involved in an evangelical, preferably Southern Baptist, church.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintain confidentiality of personnel files and ensure accurate reconciliation with payroll records.
    • Process and reconcile payrolls for all employees on a Semi-Monthly schedule. • Process, reconcile, and pay monthly payroll vendor bills.
    • Process, reconcile, and pay monthly federal and state tax deposits.
    • Process end-of-month payroll tasks and reconcile benefits with Accounts Payable, Controller, and Institutional Advancement.
    • Process reports including but not limited to: CCCU Survey, MBC Report, W2/W3, 941 Quarterly Report, and SUTA Quarterly Reports.
    • Work closely with Financial Aid to organize and maintain student Work Study awards. • Place Work Study eligible students into jobs and maintain student budgets. • Work with the Academic Office to process faculty pay orders for adjunct and overload compensation.
    • Assist Controller and VP of Business with budget changes and reconciliation. • Assist HR in absence request tracking.
    • Assist HR with annual non-discrimination testing, Workers' Compensation audit, IPEDS reporting and Title IX compliance and investigations.
    • Assist HR as needed with annual Benefits Open Enrollment.
    • Work with HR to perform annual minimum wage update, changes of salaries, and benefit rates in the system.
    • Initiate annual approval and updates of housing allowances and FICA status. • Update annual payroll schedule and official campus closings in the payroll system.
    • Use reporting software to run various data analysis as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    DEPARTMENTAL RELATIONSHIPS

    • Work closely with Human Resources Coordinator to ensure benefit and payroll accuracy. • Work closely with Controller and VP of Business to maintain budget oversight and payroll general ledger reconciliations.
    • Work with Academic Office to perform adjunct and overload compensation. • Work with Financial Aid to track Work Study awards.
    • Work with Supervisors of various departments for timesheets and absence notices. • Work with Accounts Payable and Institutional Advancement during end of month payroll tasks.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • Working knowledge of higher education preferred.
    • Strong attention to detail with demonstrated accounting knowledge.
    • Ability to adapt quickly to last-minute changes and deadlines.
    • Working knowledge of computers and the ability to learn innovative programs. • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING

    • Bachelor's degree is required.
    • 2 or more years of payroll or accounting experience is preferred.
    • 2 or more years of human resource experience is preferred.
    • Bookkeeping and accounting experience is preferred.
    • Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
