    POSITION SUMMARY

    Under the direction of the Director of Finance and CFO, the Payroll Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely operation of Bingham Healthcare's payroll and timekeeping systems.

    This position verifies and compiles payroll information including hours worked, taxes, payroll deductions, employee identification information, and PTO activity. The Payroll Clerk also prepares payroll checks and direct deposits and ensures federal and state payroll tax and wage reports are completed accurately and on time.

    WHAT YOU'LL DO

    Payroll & Timekeeping

    • Prepare payroll for Bingham Healthcare entities while ensuring compliance with organizational policies
    • Verify hours worked, employee information, PTO activity, deductions, and other payroll data
    • Review calculated wages and salaries for accuracy and correct discrepancies before payroll is issued
    • Prepare and issue employee paychecks and direct deposits accurately and on time
    • Maintain payroll and employee records
    • Operate and support payroll and timekeeping systems

    Taxes & Reporting

    • Calculate applicable federal and state payroll taxes
    • Prepare required monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax and wage reports
    • Prepare Revenue & Statistics reports
    • Prepare monthly productivity reports
    • Assist with month-end payroll account closing procedures

    Deductions & Employee Support

    • Process payroll deductions, including one-time deductions, authorized account receivable deductions, and other payroll-related deductions
    • Maintain accurate deduction records
    • Reconcile PTO reports
    • Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, deductions, paychecks, and other payroll-related issues
    • Provide professional and helpful customer service to employees with payroll questions

    Fiscal Services Support

    • Prepare bank deposits and maintain knowledge of current deposit procedures
    • Assist with Accounts Payable functions, including mail management, invoice scanning, document matching, and other AP-related tasks
    • Cross-train and provide support within the Fiscal Services department as needed
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education & Experience

    • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred
    • Six months to one year of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Previous payroll experience preferred

    Skills & Knowledge

    • Ability to accurately interpret documents and follow instructions related to payroll, wage, tax, and regulatory reports
    • Basic mathematical skills necessary for accurate payroll calculations
    • Strong computer skills
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
    • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll and employee information
    • Minimum typing speed of 30 words per minute and 10-key proficiency
