    Description

    Abode, one of the largest and most effective nonprofits working to end homelessness in the Bay Area, is seeking a Payroll Clerk for our programs in Alameda County.

    About The Role: The Payroll Clerk will be responsible for assisting payroll specialists process the full cycle payroll and payroll-related transactions, employee reimbursements, and reporting. The Payroll Clerk will also support payroll specialists, ensure the accuracy of payroll transactions, provide strong customer service to payroll inquiries, and collaboratively engage business partners within the agency.

    How You Make An Impact

    • Manage the payroll process and solve all the grievances for payroll.
    • Responsible for daily operations of semi-monthly payroll processing and transactions.
    • Maintain and input employee data into accounting systems Intact including new hire information, status changes, terminations.
    • Provide login and information to new hires for various accounting systems, syncing with Nexonia, and responding to payroll-related questions from employees.
    • Prepare final paychecks, including manual checks, for terminations.
    • Process expense reimbursements in the accounting system.
    • Assist Billing & Reimbursement department with employee queries related to pay rate and other payroll items.
    • Provide any other reports and perform any task as requested when needed. 

    How You Meet Qualifications: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration required.
    • Minimum of 2-years’ experience in payroll administration and accounting functions.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of payroll law and accounting principles.
    • Advanced proficiency in accounting systems, Excel, database use, and other accounting software. In-depth operational knowledge of Intacct, and Paylocity strongly preferred.
    • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively with teams.
