JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Support AJUSD Vision, Mission, and Goals.
  • Reporting to the Director of Business Services, the Payroll/Benefits Specialist verifies a variety of complex financial clerical activities involved with processing bi-weekly payroll.
  • Organize and maintain a timekeeping system verifying edits, absences, and total hours, calculation of overtime, verifying holiday pay and maintaining new hire information.
  • Verify accuracy of new hire information in Visions payroll.
  • Review employee timesheets for accuracy against Visions.
  • Audit and reconcile employee leave banks.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll and benefit operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Interpret and submit government reports such as 941, W-2, ACA, and new hire reporting with ASRS.
  • Contribute to the team by accomplishing additional duties as assigned.
  • Assist employees with benefits, maintain all insurance payroll employee deductions.
  • Perform data entry of substitute pay and audit certified absence with the bi-weekly sub report.
  • Administer district benefit package for new and current employees (medical, life, short-term, FSA, HSA, and tax sheltered annuities.)

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of two years of business related experience
  • Good organizational skills
  • Proficient communicator with excellent interpersonal communication skills in dealing with all levels of district staff and with a diverse community
  • Strong mathematical skills with ability to calculate percentages
  • Competent decision maker with excellent leadership skills
  • Experience working with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and Visions
  • Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card WITH IVP number, valid and unexpired
