    We are seeking an experienced Payroll and Benefits Administrator who will leverage their experience and expertise to support our incredible team. The ideal candidate brings experience in full-cycle payroll processing, benefit administration for group medical plans and 401(k) retirement plans, and ownership and execution of all associated compliance reporting requirements (PCORI, ACA, Form 5500, SAR distribution, etc.). This role reports to the HR Manager. It's a great fit for someone who is very organized and thrives on owning the payroll and benefit administration processes end-to-end independently, and is just as comfortable collaborating with the broader HR and Accounting teams day to day. This is an in-office position based out of our Holland, Michigan location. Candidates for this role must be willing to work in-office Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 4:00pm. Remote or hybrid work is not available.

    As a Payroll and Benefits Administrator, some of your job duties will include:

    • Process full-cycle weekly payroll and reconciliations for a primarily hourly workforce
    • Validate payroll data prior to finalization, including hours, pay codes, job/class code assignments, garnishments, and other deductions
    • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies as needed
    • Administer certified payroll and Michigan prevailing wage compliance requirements
    • Administer 401(k) retirement plan, including contribution processing and reconciliation
    • Administer group medical and other benefit plans, including open enrollment, eligibility, and qualifying life event changes
    • Manage COBRA administration and serve as the point of contact for benefits vendors (broker, carriers, third-party administrators)
    • Own the annual benefits and compliance calendar
    • Serve as primary point of contact for team members on payroll related questions

    To be successful as a Payroll and Benefits Administrator, you will have the following experiences and skills:

    • Regular onsite availability Monday through Friday beginning at 7:00am to best support our workforce
    • High school diploma required, bachelor's degree preferred
    • Fundamental Payroll Certification or Certified Payroll Professional strongly preferred
    • Minimum of 4 years' hands-on, full cycle payroll experience, ideally supporting a workforce of 100+ employees
    • Strong working knowledge of federal and Michigan wage-and-hour law, payroll tax requirements, and garnishment processing
    • Experience with Michigan certified payroll and prevailing wage compliance (construction, landscaping, or seasonal field-services industry is a plus)
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel and Word
    • Experience with modern payroll / HRIS platforms (Inova or UKG HRIS is preferred)
    • Experience with system integrations preferred
    • High attention to detail and comfort working with sensitive / confidential compensation data
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain payroll and benefit matters clearly to team members at all levels within the organization
    • Bilingual (Spanish / English) highly preferred
