Payroll Analyst

This role is responsible for analyzing payroll data, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, reconciling payroll accounts, and supporting payroll-related reporting and compliance requirements. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs.

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Payroll Analyst in Glen Burnie, MD. Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Analyst to support payroll processing, auditing, reporting, and compliance activities. This role is responsible for analyzing payroll data, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, reconciling payroll accounts, and supporting payroll-related reporting and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, payroll experience, and the ability to work collaboratively across HR, Finance, and Payroll teams. Key Responsibilities:

• Review, analyze, and validate payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Support payroll processing activities, including earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, and adjustments
• Audit payroll transactions and investigate discrepancies or processing errors
• Prepare payroll reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules
• Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and resolve variances
• Generate payroll reports, analytics, and workforce-related metrics
• Assist with payroll tax reporting, compliance activities, and audits
• Research and resolve employee payroll inquiries and issues
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end payroll activities
• Partner with HR, Benefits, Finance, and Accounting teams to ensure data accuracy and process efficiency
• Maintain payroll documentation, procedures, and internal controls
• Identify opportunities to automate payroll reporting and improve payroll processes

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Human Resources, or related field preferred
• 3+ years of payroll, payroll accounting, payroll analysis, or related experience
• Experience with payroll reconciliations, reporting, and data analysis
• Strong understanding of payroll processes, payroll regulations, and payroll compliance requirements
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, lookups, and data analysis
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
• Experience with payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, UKG, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms
• Payroll accounting and journal entry experience
• Experience supporting payroll tax compliance and audits
• Experience working in large or multi-state payroll environments
