Our client is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join their growing payroll team and support payroll operations for approximately 365 employees across multiple companies and states.

This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional who enjoys the accounting, tax, compliance, and reporting side of payroll.

This is NOT an HR role. We are specifically seeking a payroll professional whose focus has been payroll processing, payroll taxes, reporting, reconciliations, and compliance. This position is part of the accounting function and is ideal for someone who prefers working with numbers, payroll regulations, and financial accuracy rather than employee relations, recruiting, or benefits administration.

Responsibilities

• 
  
• Process weekly payroll for approximately 365 employees across multiple entities.
• 
  
• Ensure payroll is accurately completed by Tuesday deadlines for Wednesday pay dates.
• 
  
• Process both union and non-union payroll.
• 
  
• Prepare and submit union payroll reports and union fund contributions.
• 
  
• Serve as a point of contact for union payroll-related questions.
• 
  
• Calculate, review, and remit federal, state, and local payroll taxes.
• 
  
• Manage payroll deductions, garnishments, FICA, and other withholdings.
• 
  
• Review and file payroll tax returns and compliance reports.
• 
  
• Perform payroll audits and reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
• 
  
• Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with payroll laws and regulations.
• 
  
• Reconcile PTO balances between UKG and Vista.
• 
  
• Utilize Excel to prepare reports, reconciliations, and payroll analysis.
• 
  

Qualifications

• 
  
• Experience processing high-volume payroll.
• 
  
• Knowledge of payroll taxes, tax filings, deductions, garnishments, and payroll compliance.
• 
  
• Experience with payroll reconciliations and payroll reporting.
• 
  
• Experience with UKG, Vista, or similar payroll systems preferred.
• 
  
• Strong Excel skills; Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs are a plus.
• 
  
• Union payroll experience is helpful but not required.
• 
  
• Ability to work accurately and meet strict payroll deadlines.
•
