    The City of Saco is seeking reliable, trustworthy, and motivated individuals to join our Police Department. As a Patrol Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining community safety and stability while upholding our core values of Professionalism, Accountability, Compassion, and Trust. Our vision is to be the safest community through professional and compassionate policing, and we’re looking for people who want to help us achieve it.

    Pay ranges from $37.66-$49.59/hr per hour and includes an excellent benefits package.

    DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

    We’re looking for candidates who:

    • Recognize dangerous situations and act decisively to protect people and property
    • Demonstrate strong mental alertness and observational skills
    • Communicate clearly—whether in court, in writing, with the public, or over radio equipment
    • Engage effectively with individuals who are emotionally distressed or seriously injured
    • Speak clearly over police radio and other electronic transmission equipment
    • Make sound decisions quickly when faced with multiple options
    • Retain and recall factual information related to laws, statutes, and codes
    • Approach the public with fairness, compassion, and professionalism
    • Operate a motor vehicle safely at high speeds and in all weather conditions
    • Maintain conduct, on and off duty, that reflects community and professional standards
    • Work Schedule and Availability: Must be able to work the established Patrol Officer schedule, which consists of 10-hour shifts, a four-day workweek, and assigned rotations of Sunday–Wednesday or Wednesday–Saturday. The position requires availability to work holidays and overtime as necessary to meet operational needs.
