About the Role:

The Rockhurst University Department of Safety and Security is seeking a dedicated, community-minded Armed Patrol Officer to join our Uniformed Patrol Division on the evening/overnight shift.

As a commission-based Patrol Agent (Class A Private Officer License under Missouri Title 17 & Chapter 84), you will hold full authority to deter, prevent, and respond to incidents-maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for our 3,000 students, faculty, and campus visitors.

Essential Functions:

• Campus & Neighborhood Patrol: Conduct foot, bicycle, golf cart, and vehicle patrols across campus and surrounding university areas.
• Community Engagement: Build positive relationships with students, staff, and visitors using modern Community-Oriented Policing techniques.
• Public Safety & Emergency Response: Rapidly respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, alarms, and safety requests.
• Safety Escorts & Facility Security: Provide safety escorts for students and staff; locking and unlocking university facilities.
• Investigations & Reporting: Conduct thorough criminal and internal investigations; complete clear accurate incident reports.

What We're Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

• Age & Education: 21+ years of age with a High School Diploma or GED.
• Licensing: Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Commissioning: Must qualify for (or currently hold) an Armed Private Officer License through the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department within 45 days of hire (and maintain annually).
• Certifications: CPR/AED and Basic First Aid certified (or ability to obtain upon hire).
• Skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills; intermediate computer proficiency (MS Office, Teams, Outlook).
• Ability to pass a written exam, oral interview, comprehensive background investigation, physical exam, and drug screen.

Preferred Experience:

• Prior experience in Law Enforcement, Campus Safety, Military, or Armed Security.
