Job Summary
The Patient Services Specialist 1, with direct oversight, provides administrative support in a physician office, clinic, or other area. This role assists patients to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. Duties include patient relations, check-in and check-out, scheduling, insurance verification, and answering phones.

Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences. Empathetic listener, sensitive, upbeat, optimistic, articulate, gracious and tactful.
Ability to promptly assess requests by using electronic and paper resource materials and correctly respond to patient inquiries.
Ability to calm upset patients in a composed and professional demeanor.
Excellent data entry, numeric, typing and computer navigational skills, with attention to details.
Comfortable working in a fast paced, constantly changing and stressful environment.
Deliver exceptional customer service to a high-volume patient population by assisting with checkout activities, scheduling needs, and patient questions while ensuring all visit-related business is completed prior to departure.
Build positive patient relationships through proactive communication, professionalism, and a patient-centered approach, particularly when serving a diverse and predominantly geriatric population.
Collaborate with clinic staff to support efficient workflow operations while maintaining flexibility to cross-train and provide coverage across multiple Patient Services Specialist functions.
Healthcare or medical office experience preferred
Spanish-speaking skills are a plus, but not required
All Patient Services Specialists are cross-trained across check-in, checkout, and laboratory support functions and must be willing to provide coverage in various patient service areas as operational needs require.
