Description

Pay Rate: $23 per hour

Summary:

  • Duration: 7 Weeks Contract
  • Shift/Schedule: M-F 9AM-5PM EST
  • Location: New York, NY

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and register patients in a tactful and courteous manner.
  • Obtain all pertinent patient demographic and insurance information and enter it into the appropriate computer system.
  • Pre-register patients in the hospital's online system and obtain hospital medical record numbers when necessary.
  • Perform insurance verification checks for Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance in the hospital billing system.
  • Schedule and maintain daily appointment schedules, considering resource availability.
  • Set up clinic for efficient management of appointment flow, including medical records retrieval and chart setups.
  • Request and review patient charts to ensure necessary test results and information are recorded.
  • Retrieve laboratory and radiographic data from clinic information systems and laboratories.
  • Interface with referring offices and internal departments to schedule patient exams.
  • Request and obtain valid physician requisitions for all exams and assign/update billing codes appropriately.
  • Prepare all pertinent paperwork, including authorizations and diagnostic testing requisitions.
  • Verify and document third-party eligibility and determine patient liability.
  • Notify patients of financial obligations for elective admissions and establish payment arrangements according to financial policies.
  • Counsel patients regarding payment options and Medicaid eligibility.
  • Interface with MEU and Social Services to determine Medicaid eligibility and inform patients of required documents for Medicaid applications.
  • Collect co-payments and fees, issue receipts, and maintain records of all financial transactions.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Fluent in Spanish
  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 1 year of clerical experience
  • Proficiency in telephone, computer, keyboard, effective communication, and customer service skills
  • Data entry skills of 4500 keystrokes

Preferred Skills:

  • Some college education
  • Knowledge of Coding: ICD 9, CPT-4
  • Understanding of health insurance benefits and requirements
