Program Navigator

At RWJBarnabas Health, our Program Navigators play a vital role in coordinating surgical and specialty programs, supporting efficient workflows, and ensuring patients and providers are prepared every step of the way. Working closely with physicians, surgical practices, hospital departments, patients, and families, our Program Navigators help streamline scheduling, pre-admission testing, credentialing, procedural readiness, data management, and patient coordination. As a Program Navigator, a typical day might include the following:
- Serving as a liaison between physicians, surgical offices, hospital departments, patients, and families to promote effective communication and continuity of care.
- Assisting patients and families with concerns related to the day of surgery, transportation, and procedural coordination in collaboration with the case management team.
- Coordinating pre-admission testing (PAT) workflows and supporting surgical office staff with scheduling, process guidance, and operational questions.
- Supporting efforts to increase appropriate utilization and volume within the pre-admission testing department.
- Providing training, education, and ongoing workflow guidance to surgical office staff to promote efficiency, consistency, and compliance.
- Facilitating quarterly practice manager and surgical coordinator meetings to strengthen communication, collaboration, and operational performance across surgical practices.
- Managing Q-Genda on-call scheduling for vascular surgery and ensuring schedules remain accurate and up to date.
- Supporting physician payer credentialing activities to promote provider participation and compliance with payer requirements.
- Collaborating with physician offices to facilitate completion of procedural consents prior to the day of surgery.
- Maintaining and managing thoracic surgery STS data collection, reporting, and submission requirements to support quality outcomes and program performance.
- Proactively identifying and resolving workflow, patient care, and operational issues that may impact efficiency, quality, or patient satisfaction.
- Coordinating bariatric program inquiries by managing incoming patient requests, organizing monthly Zoom information sessions, and distributing intake forms to appropriate office staff for follow-up.
- Serving as the Institutional Review Board (IRB) Primary Reviewer and supporting assigned review responsibilities.
- Contributing to quality improvement, patient experience, operational efficiency, and multidisciplinary collaboration initiatives.
- Supporting the Professional Well-Being program and contributing to initiatives that promote a healthy, collaborative work environment.
- Performing other duties as assigned or directed by management.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have:
- A Bachelor's degree in healthcare or a related field.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a healthcare field or operational role.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to effectively coordinate multiple workflows, priorities, and stakeholders in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Experience working collaboratively with physicians, healthcare teams, patients, families, and administrative staff.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage scheduling, data, documentation, and operational processes accurately.
- The ability to identify workflow and operational challenges and proactively support process improvement initiatives.
- The ability to communicate effectively and professionally while serving as a liaison across multiple departments and healthcare organizations.
