Patient Eligibility & Benefits RepresentativeWe are seeking a Patient Eligibility & Benefits Representative to work onsite within a hospital setting in Newark, NJ. This position works directly with patients to identify potential benefit coverage and assist with applications for state and federal assistance programs, including Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). The ideal candidate will have strong customer service and communication skills, the ability to review and understand medical documentation, and experience interacting with patients, hospital personnel, and government agencies.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Interview patients/clients in a hospital setting to identify eligibility and assist them in obtaining maximum available benefit coverage, including Medicaid and SSI.Complete applications for applicable state and federal benefit programs.Review medical records and supporting documentation to facilitate and expedite benefit approval.Communicate with government agencies and caseworkers regarding application and claim status.Follow up on pending applications and take appropriate action to move cases toward resolution.Provide timely updates and assistance to hospital personnel and other internal staff.Maintain accurate documentation of claim status, patient/client contacts, and follow-up activities within Optum and hospital systems.Apply knowledge of federal and state benefit programs to individual patient circumstances.Perform additional customer-specific responsibilities as assigned.**Only those lawfully authorized to work in the designated country associated with the position will be considered.****Please note that all Position start dates and duration are estimates and may be reduced or lengthened based upon a client's business needs and requirements.**
