As a Patient Care Technician in UVA Health''s ambulatory clinics, you will play a vital role in supporting patients, providers, and clinical teams while helping deliver exceptional care across a variety of outpatient specialties.
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members in a dynamic ambulatory environment. The Role
As a Patient Care Technician, you will support outpatient clinic operations while serving as an important connection between patients and the healthcare team. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced clinical setting, enjoy meaningful patient interaction, and are committed to delivering outstanding service and compassionate care.
In a typical day, you will:
Welcome and support patients throughout their clinic visit.
Assist with patient intake activities, including obtaining and documenting vital signs and other clinical information.
Prepare patients and exam rooms for visits and procedures.
Support providers and nursing staff with clinical and operational tasks.
Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record.
Assist with specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and other patient care activities as appropriate.
Monitor and stock clinical supplies, equipment, and treatment areas.
Reinforce patient safety, infection prevention, and quality standards.
Collaborate with providers, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure efficient patient flow and an exceptional care experience.
Provide compassionate, patient-centered support while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
Experience: No experience required
Licensure: American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS Certification required. For Non-Certified team members hired prior to May 11, 2026, certification is not required, as relevant experience will be accepted in its place.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires frequently bending/stooping and driving (Home Health Aide only). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs and > 100lbs (Home Health Aide only). May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
The pay range for this role is $15.07 - $23.36 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate''s qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
