Patient Service Representative – Physical Therapy

Location: Optum Physical Therapy - 3 Delaware Drive, Lake Success, NY 11042
Pay Rate: $19/hr (Paid Weekly)
Schedule: Monday–Friday; primarily closing shifts Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with mid shifts Tuesday and Thursday. Flexibility available.
Contract to Hire: 08/31/2026 to 08/31/2027

Position Overview

We are seeking a professional, dependable, and patient-focused Patient Service Representative to support front-desk operations at an outpatient physical therapy location. This position will serve as a primary point of contact for patients and will be responsible for providing excellent customer service while ensuring efficient daily clinic operations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in customer service and healthcare, excellent communication skills, and the ability to prioritize patient needs in a busy clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients in a professional and welcoming manner.
  • Check patients in and out efficiently and accurately.
  • Collect patient payments and maintain accurate payment records.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and assist patients with questions and requests.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Prioritize patient needs and accommodate patients whenever possible.
  • Assist with daily administrative tasks and office operations.
  • Maintain and update spreadsheets and other administrative records.
  • Ensure patient information is entered and maintained accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with clinical and administrative staff.
  • Help maintain an organized and professional front-desk environment.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous customer service experience required.
  • Healthcare or medical office experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Professional, friendly, and patient-focused demeanor.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Comfortable working with computers, spreadsheets, and office software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Reliable attendance and flexibility with scheduling.

Schedule

The preferred schedule includes:

  • Monday: Closing shift
  • Tuesday: Mid shift
  • Wednesday: Closing shift
  • Thursday: Mid shift
  • Friday: Closing shift

Flexibility is available for the right candidate.
