What You'll Do
As a Patient Care Attendant, you'll provide essential support to our veterinarians and veterinary technicians while helping ensure our hospital runs smoothly. Responsibilities include:

Patient Care & Animal Handling
Provide compassionate, individualized care to boarding pets while ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being.
Feed, water, exercise, medicate, and monitor pets according to their individualized care plans.
Safely restrain and handle pets of all temperaments, including fearful or reactive animals, using low-stress handling techniques.
Monitor pets throughout the day for changes in health or behavior and promptly communicate concerns to the veterinary team.
Collect fecal samples, perform admission health checks (including flea and tick inspections), and maintain accurate patient records.
Assist the veterinary team with exams, vaccinations, treatments, and other services for boarding patients.
Follow hospital protocols for infection prevention, biosecurity, and disease control.
Cleaning & Facility Maintenance
Maintain a clean, sanitary, and odor-free boarding facility, including kennels, cat rooms, outdoor play yards, and common areas.
Clean and disinfect cages, runs, litter boxes, food and water dishes, bedding, and equipment according to hospital protocols.
Promptly clean accidents, replace soiled bedding, and bathe pets as needed to ensure their comfort and hygiene.
Complete daily housekeeping duties including laundry, mopping, garbage removal, stocking supplies, and disinfecting equipment.
Ensure all cleaning and sanitation practices meet hospital standards for infection control and patient safety.
Client Service
Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting clients professionally and treating every pet like family.
Schedule boarding reservations, answer phones, respond to client questions, and return messages in a timely manner.
Review vaccination and health requirements prior to boarding stays and communicate any needed updates to clients.
Complete boarding admissions and discharges, documenting feeding instructions, medications, personal belongings, and special care requests.
Provide boarding tours, educate clients on available services, and promote boarding, grooming, and other hospital offerings.
Communicate with pet owners regarding their pet's stay and collaborate with other hospital departments to ensure excellent patient care.
Administrative Responsibilities
Maintain accurate medical records, boarding forms, treatment plans, and reservation schedules.
Ensure all services, medications, and retail items are accurately entered and charged.
Process invoices and payments while following hospital financial policies.
Accurately document patient eating, drinking, medication administration, and elimination habits throughout their stay.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience working with animals is preferred but not required.
Excellent communication, customer service, and teamwork skills.
Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable learning veterinary software and maintaining accurate records.
Dependable, flexible, and willing to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements
Frequently walk, stand, bend, kneel, lift, push, pull, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks throughout the shift.
Safely lift pets up to 50 pounds independently and assist with larger pets weighing up to 220 pounds.
Safely restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments.
Work in an environment with frequent barking, cleaning chemicals, and exposure to animal hair, dander, and bodily fluids.
Availability to work most weekends and holidays
