JOB SUMMARY
The Patient Care Assistant I PCA I is accountable for supporting patient care activities under the supervision of a registered nurse in the clinic setting and on inpatient nursing units. The PCA I works closely with the charge nurse and staff nurses to assure patient care needs are met. The PCA I performs patient care activities as delegated and adheres to patient safety measures. The PCA I is competent in the performance of basic patient care activities medical terminology communication organizational and computer skills. The PCA I demonstrates personal and professional effectiveness.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EducationLicensureSpecialized Training a. EducationHigh School diploma or GED or technical skillstraining appropriate to the specialty area. b. LicensureCertification a Certified Nurse Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant. Nursing students actively attending an accredited nursing program or who have graduated are exempt of certification requirement provided a satisfactory completion of first clinicalfoundations course. If hired prior to January 2021 certification is not required. b Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association AHA approved program. c Other certificates as required by unitserviceclinic.
Work Experience One 1 Year Work Experience related clinical experience preferred.
SkillsKnowledge SAMA certification within 90 days of hire. EKG andor Phlebotomy competency validation required as applicable to specialty area within 6 months of hire.
