    Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Patient Account Representative!

    You will Assists be responsible for registration and billing to third party payers for Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-IA. Adheres to Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission of Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare.

    Schedule:

    • Mon-Fri 0730-1600

    General Requirements:

    1. Receives claims and ensures clean copy is sent to insurance company.
    • Reviews paper claim and fills in locators for insurance company and updates series when needed.

    • Transfers corrections onto computer system.

    • Sends claim to insurance company (electronically or via mail).

    • Maintains knowledge of current standards with insurance company and assure compliance.

    1. Follows up on claims on first-time billings and takes action as appropriate.
    • Resolves discrepancies in bill payment by following up with insurance company.

    • Initiates correspondence between insurance company and patient.

    • Determines appropriate action to take (i.e., resubmitting claim, billing patient, billing secondary insurance).

    1. Resolves billing issues with insurance companies, patients and physicians' offices.
    • Follows up on correspondence with customers.

    • Initiates communication with other health system departments for clarification.

    • Responds to customer inquiries via phone and takes appropriate action.

    • Communicates results of investigations to customers.

    • Documents all communications and actions in series system completely.

    1. Registration functions.
    • Creates an account from clinic encounters

    • Enters charges into computer system.

    1. Adheres to all safety, infection control and employee health policies and procedures.
    • Attends required safety programs.

    • Appropriately and consistently uses the personal protective equipment required of the job.

    • Knows and can demonstrate departmental emergency procedures for fire, disaster and other emergency situations.

    • Reports and removes unsafe equipment/furniture.

    • Asks for assistance when needed to assure safety for all involved.

    • Maintains a safe working environment and practices safe working habits.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Basic Skill Set

    • 0-2 Years-Minimum of 6 months medical office or insurancce experience

    • High school or Equivalen (GED)

    • Associates Degree: degree in accounting prferred

    • Billing experience preferred

    • Experience with Brightree a plus!
