Tulsa, OK | Full-Time | Monday–Friday
Pay: $18–$20/hour DOE

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Patient Account Representative to join a busy healthcare team in Tulsa. This position is ideal for someone with strong insurance verification, preauthorization, and patient financial counseling experience who thrives in a fast-paced medical environment.

The Patient Account Representative will play a vital role in ensuring accurate insurance verification, authorization processing, and patient financial communication while supporting efficient patient care operations.

Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Patient Account Representative is responsible for insurance verification and eligibility review, obtaining pre-authorizations, assessing patient financial responsibilities, and counseling patients regarding insurance benefits and payment obligations. This role requires strong communication skills, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining excellent patient service.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and patient demographic information accurately and timely
  • Perform insurance verification through electronic billing systems, payer portals, and direct communication with insurance carriers
  • Obtain initial and ongoing pre-authorizations for applicable treatments and services
  • Enter authorization and insurance information into the practice management system accurately
  • Scan and maintain referral and authorization documentation within patient charts
  • Communicate authorization status to physicians, clinical staff, and patients as appropriate
  • Ensure all required patient and physician signatures are obtained on necessary documentation
  • Perform financial counseling with patients regarding insurance benefits, co-pays, patient responsibility, billing practices, and payment arrangements
  • Utilize Summary of Patient Reimbursement and Liability forms and waivers as needed
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality of patient information at all times
  • Support multiple treatment/service modalities requiring authorization review, including Radiology, Chemotherapy, Radiation, and Genetic Testing

Qualifications

  • Previous medical office, insurance verification, or patient account experience required
  • Experience with chemotherapy authorizations or oncology-related services strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of insurance eligibility, benefits, and preauthorization processes required
  • Familiarity with electronic billing systems and practice management software preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask
  • Excellent communication and patient service skills
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy and productivity
  • Professional demeanor and strong problem-solving abilities required

Schedule & Compensation

  • Full-Time
  • Monday through Friday
  • $18–$20/hour DOE
