    Position Summary: The Patient Access Specialist (PAS) serves as a patient advocate and facilitates the process that allows for access to life changing care at Lindner Center of Hope’s residential units. The Patient Access Specialist is a professional who serves as the first point of contact at the facility for patients and families seeking services. The Patient Access Specialist works within a collaborative team including physicians, providers, social workers, and many other members of a multidisciplinary team. The PAS is an integral role in connecting patients to care.
     
     
    Major Duties and Responsibilities:
     
    • Answer incoming calls and gather patient information
    • Welcome patients and caregivers, ensuring a positive and seamless admission process.
    • Collect, verify, and input medical, insurance, and demographic information with accuracy.
    • Explain and complete admission paperwork, obtaining required signatures (e.g., patient rights, consent forms).
    • Gather and record patient information and manage documents using New Resilience (or other CRM system) and Epic systems.
    • Manage patient interactions in crisis situations, maintaining a calm and welcoming environment.
    • Communicate with multidisciplinary teams to address clinical criteria, documentation, and treatment issues.
    • Ensure Compliance With Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and Other Regulatory Requirements.
    • Explain insurance coverage to patients and handle related inquiries.
    • Provide clear documentation and communicate cases requiring special attention.
    • Participate in on-call, weekend, and holiday coverage as scheduled
    • Perform other duties as assigned
     
     
    Required Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma Required
    • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service with professionalism, empathy, and responsiveness.
    • Strong data entry and computer skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize work effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to learn and effectively utilize organization’s systems and databases
    • Demonstrated ability to work with a sense of urgency while maintaining accuracy and quality of work.
     
    Desired Qualifications:
    • Familiarity with Lindner Center of Hope, behavioral health care environments, and treatment modalities, or the ability to learn and become clinically informed regarding mental health services and patient care options.
    • 1+ years of experience in a healthcare setting
    • 1+ years of customer service experience
     
    Physical Requirements:
     
    To effectively care for patients, candidates must be able to push, pull and lift up to 25 lbs on an occasional basis, and be able to stand or walk frequently during a work shift.  Must be able to see, talk, and hear coworkers, patients, and others.

The reports from these agencies will include criminal record information.  Lindner Center of Hope will follow the requirements for employment based on the State of Ohio Administrative Code 5122-30-31, and any other regulatory requirements regarding criminal background checks. Lindner Center of Hope also reserves the right to obtain Consumer Reports and/or Investigative Consumer Reports as defined in the Federal Fair Credit Reporting ACT (FCRA).
