Job Title: Patient Access Representative II

Position Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking compassionate and customer-focused Patient Access Representatives for multiple contract opportunities in Hixson, TN. This role supports patient registration, admissions, scheduling, insurance verification, financial clearance, and customer service functions within a fast-paced healthcare environment. Candidates should be comfortable working in high-pressure settings and handling emotionally challenging situations with professionalism and empathy. Prior healthcare and Epic experience are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and provide exceptional customer service
  • Complete patient registration, admissions, pre-admissions, and discharge processes
  • Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information
  • Verify benefits, eligibility, authorizations, and financial clearance requirements
  • Educate patients on financial responsibilities and collect payments using compliant practices
  • Explain and secure required patient forms and documentation
  • Schedule appointments and diagnostic procedures as needed
  • Maintain accurate records and protected health information
  • Support multiple Patient Access service areas, including Emergency Department functions
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and internal teams

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Prior healthcare experience strongly preferred
  • Epic experience strongly preferred
  • Medical Terminology coursework required
  • Minimum typing speed of 35 WPM
  • Customer service experience required
  • Proficiency with computers, keyboarding, and Microsoft applications
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • 0–1 year of administrative experience in a healthcare or insurance setting
  • Some college coursework preferred
  • Knowledge of healthcare workflows, insurance verification, and compliance standards preferred

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
