    Pathologists' Assistant Supervisor | East Texas
    Permanent & Full-Time Direct Hire

    A healthcare organization located in East Texas, approximately one hour west of Longview, is seeking an experienced Pathologists' Assistant Supervisor to lead and support its pathology laboratory operations.

    This is a permanent opportunity for a qualified Pathologists' Assistant with advanced education, current ASCP certification, and leadership experience. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to oversee daily pathology operations while maintaining high standards for quality, accuracy, and patient care.

    Position Overview

    The Pathologists' Assistant Supervisor will provide clinical and operational leadership within the pathology laboratory. This role will support daily workflow, quality assurance, staff development, and compliance while working collaboratively with pathologists, laboratory leadership, and other healthcare professionals.

    Responsibilities

    • Supervise and coordinate daily Pathologists' Assistant and pathology laboratory activities.
    • Oversee specimen processing, gross examination, and related pathology procedures.
    • Ensure accurate and timely completion of pathology laboratory work.
    • Monitor workflow and appropriately prioritize cases based on clinical needs.
    • Maintain compliance with laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
    • Monitor quality control and quality assurance activities.
    • Investigate and resolve technical or operational issues.
    • Assist with development, implementation, and review of laboratory procedures.
    • Support staff orientation, training, competency assessment, and ongoing development.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to laboratory personnel.
    • Collaborate with pathologists and other members of the healthcare team.
    • Maintain appropriate documentation and laboratory records.
    • Assist with inventory, supplies, equipment, and operational needs.
    • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and laboratory projects.
    • Promote a culture of safety, accuracy, professionalism, and quality patient care.
    • Perform other supervisory and laboratory responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Master's degree in Pathologists' Assistant studies required.
    • ASCP certification as a Pathologists' Assistant required.
    • Candidates who are grandfathered into the profession without the required current ASCP certification will not be considered.
    • Previous Pathologists' Assistant experience required.
    • Supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of surgical pathology and pathology laboratory operations.
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to lead laboratory staff in a fast-paced clinical environment.
    • Strong understanding of quality, regulatory, and patient-safety requirements.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with pathologists, laboratory professionals, and clinical staff.
