Pay: $2800-3200/week, max GSAs. Includes lodging, per diem and airfare/rental car OR drive your own car for an extra $125/week!

Description: We are seeking a skilled Pathologists Assistant for a 13-week travel assignment. In this role, you will work under the supervision of a pathologist to support surgical and autopsy pathology services. The PA will be responsible for the accurate accessioning, examination, dissection, and preparation of a wide range of specimens while ensuring compliance with all laboratory and regulatory standards. This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced PAs and first-time travelers looking to expand their clinical experience in a supportive environment.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree from an accredited Pathologists Assistant program (required)
- ASCP certification as a Pathologists Assistant (required)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred (first-time travelers welcome)
- Strong knowledge of surgical pathology workflows and specimen handling
- Ability to work independently with attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for preparation, gross description and dissection of human tissue surgical specimens including assuring appropriate specimen identification and accessioning,
- Reviews clinical history, including scans, x-rays, laboratory data, etc.
- Follows CAP Cancer Protocols, AJCC Cancer Staging Manual and AAPA Grossing Guidelines when processing complex cancer cases.
- Complies with specimen processing protocols in a uniform manner.
- Describes gross anatomic features, dissecting surgical specimens, and preparing tissues for histologic processing.
- Assures integrity of specimens by using knowledge of relationship between appropriate specimen and procedural requirements.
- Exercises judgment by preserving samples for testing.
- Obtains biological specimens such as blood, tissue and other material for studies such as flow cytometry, image analysis, immunohistochemistry, etc., and performs special procedures including specimen imaging / radiography and tumor triage; performs frozen sections and other intra-operative consultations, within established protocol and procedural parameters.
- Maintains quality control / assurance activities and records.
- Photographs all pertinent gross specimens and microscopic slides.
- Assist with evisceration and autopsy as needed.
- Resolves procedural problems with consultation. Reports appropriate results and problems to Pathologist(s).
