Travel Pathologists’ Assistant

Job Location: Michigan

Start Date: November 9, 2026

Duration: 13 weeks, with potential for extension

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm, no call or weekends

Hours: 40 hours per week guaranteed

Pay Range: $3,000 to $3,300 per week (includes taxable pay and stipends) + travel assistance and applicable reimbursements 

About the Opportunity

Nicklas Laboratory Staffing is seeking an experienced Pathologists’ Assistant for a 13-week travel assignment with an established healthcare system in Michigan. This opportunity is ideal for a PA with strong surgical pathology skills who is looking to contribute to a hospital-based laboratory team while supporting consistent specimen workflow and diagnostic services.

The assignment offers a predictable weekday schedule, guaranteed 40-hour workweeks, and no on-call or weekend requirements. Candidates with at least two years of Pathologists’ Assistant experience and current ASCP certification are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of Pathologists’ Assistant experience.
• Current ASCP certification as a Pathologists’ Assistant required.
• Experience performing gross examinations and dissections of surgical pathology specimens.
• Strong attention to detail in specimen identification, handling, documentation, and tissue preparation.
• Ability to work collaboratively with pathologists and laboratory personnel.
• Updated résumé or work history.
• Completed pertinent skills checklist.
• Two current professional supervisory references.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform gross examinations and dissections of surgical pathology specimens.
• Describe and document gross anatomical findings accurately.
• Prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination and histological processing.
• Ensure proper specimen identification, labeling, handling, and preparation.
• Assist with organ dissection and autopsy procedures as directed by departmental needs.
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow laboratory quality and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory personnel to support efficient workflow and high-quality diagnostic services.
