Regions Hospital's Histopathology Department is currently seeking a self-motivated, quality-focused Pathologists' Assistant to join our team.

A Pathologists' Assistant is a professional who is qualified by academic and practical training to provide service in anatomic pathology under the direction of a qualified Pathologist who is responsible for the performance of the Assistant. As a Pathologists' Assistant at Regions Hospital, you will join an innovative and collaborative group of professionals.

As a Pathologist' Assistant you will:

  • Perform anatomic gross tissue analysis and preparation.

  • Perform Postmortem examinations.

  • Maintain gross pathology records.

  • Assist Pathologists in preparing patient reports.

  • Maintain quality assurance, responsible for proper maintenance and documentations of equipment, provision, adequate supplies and cleanliness of the surgical pathology and autopsy suites.

  • Maintain and implement policies and procedures in anatomic pathology relates Joint Commission compliance and under the direction of the Anatomic & Clinical Pathology Practice Manager and Histopathology Medical Director.

  • Assists in the organization and coordination of anatomic pathology conferences.

Work schedule: FTE: 1.0 (40 hrs. weekly) Day Shift

Required Qualifications:

Education:

Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Pathology Assistants study

OR

Baccalaureate degree with a major or minor in any of the biological or allied health sciences and 3 years of Pathologists' Assistant on the job training required.

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:

Certification as a Pathologist Assistant by the American Association of Pathologist Assistants (AAPA) or American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) within 15 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience: At least one year of experience as a certified Pathologists' Assistant
