Job Details
Manage and prosecute complex U.S. and international patent portfolios in biotechnology and chemical sciences
Draft and file patent applications related to life sciences, pharmaceuticals, chemistry, genetics, immunology, and related technologies
Develop patent prosecution strategies and advise clients on intellectual property protection
Conduct patentability, validity, and freedom-to-operate analyses
Handle Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings and related matters
Collaborate with inventors, scientists, and corporate stakeholders on intellectual property strategy
Prepare legal opinions, responses, briefs, and prosecution documents
Counsel clients on patent portfolio development and competitive positioning
Stay informed on evolving patent law and scientific developments within biotechnology and chemical sectors
Participate in client development and relationship-building initiatives
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree
Active attorney license in a U.S. jurisdiction
Eligible to waive into the D.C. Bar or willing and eligible to sit for the D.C. Bar Exam
Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Molecular Genetics, Human Genetics, Immunology, Antibodies, or related scientific discipline
3+ years of patent prosecution experience at a law firm
USPTO Registration Number required
Strong foundation in intellectual property and patent law
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly and effectively
