    Holbrook House is a vibrant bar and lounge in the heart of San Francisco’s Financial District, created as a “club without a membership.” We feature a Chef-driven food program that blends seasonal California ingredients with globally inspired flavors, paired with a thoughtful beverage list showcasing craft cocktails, local wines, and select spirits. Our team is dedicated to delivering warm, memorable hospitality while fostering a collaborative and dynamic workplace culture.



    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Prepare, bake, and finish pastries, breads, cakes, cookies, and plated desserts according to recipes and standards.
    • Assist in the development of new desserts and seasonal pastry items.
    • Ensure all products meet established quality, taste, and presentation standards.
    • Maintain proper mise en place, including scaling, mixing, portioning, and storing ingredients.
    • Operate and maintain pastry equipment such as mixers, ovens, proofers, and sheeters.
    • Monitor baking times and temperatures to prevent under- or over-baking.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry station in compliance with hygiene and food safety standards.
    • Rotate stock, label ingredients properly, and minimize waste.
    • Collaborate with Chef Team and service staff to coordinate timely plating and delivery of desserts.
    • Assist with inventory management and ordering of pastry supplies.
    • Train, mentor, or supervise junior pastry assistants or apprentices when required.
    • QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a comparable position in a high-end restaurant, hotel or private caterer
    • Knowledge of food preparation, technique and presentation
    • Excellent English verbal and reading skills
    • A current California Food Handlers Certificate
    • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines
    • Attention to detail and highly organized
    • High level of professionalism and a “can do” attitude
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Must be a proven self-starter capable of finding solutions with minimal supervision
    • Have regular access to e-mail and the internet
    • Available to work a flexible schedule that will include days, evenings and weekends as dictated by the restaurant+events schedules and seasonal changes
    • Have the stamina to work up to 10+ hours - standing and walking between service areas for the duration of the shift
    • Ability to bend, stoop, lift up to 55 lbs, reach overhead and perform repetitive motion
