    Description

    Position Summary

    The Building Material Handler is responsible for safely loading, unloading, handling, storing, and delivering building materials in a fast-paced yard, warehouse, and outdoor environment. This position requires frequent physical labor, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to work as part of a team to ensure customers receive accurate and timely service.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Load and unload building materials from trucks, trailers, and customer vehicles.

    • Pull, stage, and prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently.

    • Inspect deliveries for damage and accuracy.

    • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (training/certification provided as required).

    • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

    • Keep yard, warehouse, and outdoor work areas clean and orderly.

    • Work with supervisors and team members to complete daily operational tasks.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Physical Requirements

    • Must be able to frequently lift, carry materials weighing up to 100 pounds without assistance, and push and pull material carts up to 600 pounds

    • Must be capable of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing, and performing repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.

    • Must be able to work safely from ladders, elevated platforms, rooftops, and other elevated work areas.

    • Must not be afraid of heights and must be comfortable working at elevated locations when job duties require.

    • Must have sufficient vision and hearing to operate equipment safely and maintain awareness of surroundings.

    Work Environment

    • Work is performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and snow.

    • Exposure to dust, dirt, noise, and moving equipment is common.

    • Requires the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Ability to safely lift up to 100 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday.

    • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

    • Comfortable working at heights.

    • Strong commitment to workplace safety.

    • Reliable attendance and punctuality.

    • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
