We have a great opportunity with our client for someone with a strong drafting and design background creating shop drawings to step in and act as a Parts Engineer in our clients spare parts division.
The Parts Engineer is responsible for creating, updating, and releasing detailed engineering drawings and documentation used in the fabrication and support of asphalt plant equipment. This role involves producing part, weldment, assembly, and installation drawings, generating bills of materials, and supporting the manufacturing process through clear and accurate technical documentation. This engineer works closely with engineering leadership, shop fabrication teams, sales representatives, and customers to ensure that all parts and assemblies are designed to specification and released in accordance with internal procedures. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and proficiency with CAD tools used for industrial equipment design

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed part, weldment, and assembly drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
  • Interpret existing drawings and revise or update designs as needed.
  • Create installation drawings and ensure all title block information follows internal standards.
  • Generate Bills of Materials and specify required materials such as sheet metal, structural steel, bearings, reducers, hardware, and related components.
  • Research previous job documentation and drawing archives for reference and reuse opportunities.
  • Review job information provided on internal job sheets and accurately enter and track job data in internal engineering databases.
  • Support the fabrication shop by answering questions, resolving design issues, and ensuring drawings are manufacturable.
  • Conduct measurements of equipment components and assemblies for reverse?engineering or validation purposes.
  • Communicate with customers and internal teams to clarify project details or equipment requirements.
  • Follow engineering workflow procedures for drawing creation, checking, approval, archiving, and release for fabrication.
  • Assist team members with coordinated engineering tasks and shared projects.
  • Perform engineering filing, data entry, and general documentation management.
Required:
  • 5 plus years of mechanical drafting/design experience creating assembly drawings with AutoCAD and a 3D software, preferably Inventor.
  • Ability to create detail drawings, assembly drawings and bills of material.
