Parts Department – Shipping & ReceivingDepartment: Parts Position: Shipping & Receiving Reports To: Parts Manager / Assistant Parts Manager Employment Status: Full-Time Position SummaryThe Shipping & Receiving position is responsible for the accurate, organized, and timely movement of parts into and out of the Lee’s Summit Honda Parts Department. This position plays a critical role in maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting the parts counter and service department, and ensuring customer and wholesale orders are processed correctly. Essential Job ResponsibilitiesReceiving & Inventory - Receive daily Honda, aftermarket, wholesale, and other parts shipments.
- Verify incoming parts against packing slips, invoices, and purchase orders.
- Inspect shipments for shortages, overages, incorrect parts, and damage.
- Report discrepancies immediately to management.
- Properly receipt parts into the dealership management system.
- Label and route special-order parts to the correct customer, repair order, technician, or wholesale account.
- Stock inventory in the correct bin locations.
- Maintain accurate bin locations and inventory counts.
- Keep parts organized to prevent loss, damage, or misplacement.
- Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory as requested.
Shipping - Prepare outgoing parts and packages accurately and securely.
- Verify part numbers, quantities, customer information, and shipping information before shipment.
- Process UPS, FedEx, manufacturer returns, and other outbound shipments as required.
- Package parts appropriately to prevent damage during transportation.
- Maintain shipping documentation and tracking information.
- Ensure outgoing shipments are completed within required deadlines.
Returns - Process Honda and vendor returns according to department procedures.
- Assist with warranty parts returns and core returns.
- Properly identify, tag, organize, and store return parts.
- Monitor return deadlines to prevent unnecessary loss to the dealership.
- Maintain organized documentation for credits and returned merchandise.
- Follow up on outstanding credits when assigned.
Special Orders & Wholesale Support - Receive and organize special-order customer parts.
- Separate wholesale, service, retail, and stock orders correctly.
- Stage wholesale orders for delivery or customer pickup.
- Verify wholesale orders before they leave the department.
- Communicate shortages, backorders, damaged parts, and incorrect shipments promptly.
- Assist with order tracking when needed.
- Support wholesale operations using systems such as OPSTRAX, CCC, PartsTrader, CollisionLink, RepairLink, and Elite EXTRA, as applicable.
Department Organization & Cleanliness- Maintain a clean and organized shipping and receiving area.
- Keep aisles, shelves, workstations, and receiving areas free of unnecessary clutter.
- Break down boxes and dispose of packaging materials properly.
- Maintain designated areas for cores, returns, warranty parts, special orders, and outgoing shipments.
- Follow dealership safety procedures when handling heavy or oversized parts.
- Help maintain an organized parts warehouse and bin system.
