Position Information Position Title: Part Time TESOL Instructor Position Category: Faculty Position Status: FLSA Exempt Advertised Salary: $1008 per lecture hour Department: Education (EDU) Working Hours: Wednesdays, 4:30pm - 7:15pm

General Description SUNY Niagara has a need for a part-time instructor for TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) within the Arts, Humanities & Social Services division. This position will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction and leadership in support of the TESOL program while demonstrating a strong commitment to student success, inclusive teaching practices, and culturally responsive education. The instructor will contribute to advancing the program through effective teaching, collaboration, and engagement with the college and community.

Responsibilities

  • Teach EDU 299 - Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (3 lecture hours per week)
  • Prepare and deliver instruction aligned with course learning outcomes and NYSED expectations
  • Support diverse learners, including multilingual and international students
  • Participate in student recruitment and outreach efforts
  • Build relationships with local schools, community organizations, and TESOL stakeholders
  • Maintain current knowledge of TESOL theory, research, policy, and instructional practices
  • Contribute to curriculum development, revision, and program improvement
  • Use instructional technology, classroom technology, and the Colleges learning management system
  • Assess student learning and contribute to course and program assessment processes
  • Provide guidance to students regarding transfer pathways and careers in TESOL and education
  • Participate in departmental/divisional meetings, initiatives, and professional activities
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Masters degree in TESOL, Education, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field
  • Teaching experience in K-12 or higher education settings
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies for multilingual learners

Desirable Qualifications

  • Doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D., ABD) in TESOL, Education, or a related field
  • College-level teaching experience in TESOL or teacher preparation
  • NYS teaching certification
  • TESOL certification or bilingual education certification
  • Knowledge of NYSED standards, policies, and certification requirements
  • Experience with culturally responsive teaching and inclusive practices
  • Experience with curriculum development, assessment, or program evaluation
  • Experience working with diverse, multilingual, or underrepresented populations
  • Experience with field placement coordination or school partnerships
  • Experience with community outreach or grant-funded initiatives

Licenses/Certifications

  • NYS teaching certification
  • TESOL certification or bilingual education certification
