Food Service - Substitute Daily Aide

Position Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Food Service Director and building Principal, to assist in food preparation, serving lines, clean-up and maintaining an orderly and safe atmosphere in the cafeteria

Essential Functions:

  • Assists in food preparation
  • Assists in line service setup, break down, clean-up
  • Assists in making sure that counters, food prep station, tables and surrounding areas are clean.
  • Assists in serving meals during breakfast and/or lunch mealtimes
  • Assists students with orderly food purchases, distribution of food, disposal of food waste, and return of trays and utensils.

Additional Duties

  • Re-stocking food items from cold/warm storage locations
  • May collect count and deposit food services program monies.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) a plus.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality about students in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and district guidelines.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards

  • Works in standard school environment and in outdoor weather for the purpose of food inventory and trash disposal

Qualifications Profile

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

High School Diploma/GED

Experience:

  • Successful prior experience working in a food service industry, preferably in a school district or with children.

Hourly Employee $19.00 per hour.
