Job Summary

Under the direction of the Small Business Center Director or the Small Business Center Program Assistant, performs clerical support functions for the Small Business Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate a computer using word processing, spreadsheets, or other software.
  • Assist walk-in clients with Client Management System.
  • Verify attendance for SBC seminars/webinars and email handouts to event attendees meeting minimum requirements.
  • Publicize events on the Chamber calendar, the ComeSeeWilson website and compile community briefs for the newspaper.
  • Utilize Constant Contact to create a monthly newsletter.
  • Conduct grant research via the GrantStation program and update the grant handout.
  • Submit events to WCC print shop for creation of SBC Flyers and other requests for re-printing brochures or rack cards.
  • Tally certificates earned, and encourage SBC clients and event attendees towards completion of certificates via email for future events.
  • Assist with Youth Summer Camp events.
  • Assist the director and program assistant with special projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of: Principles and practices of PC's and related software including Adobe Acrobat Pro. Office practices, procedures and methods. Office machines required of the assigned office or program. Technical, or specialized vocabulary, formats, and programs utilized in the program to which assigned.

Ability to: Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Operate a PC and related software. Use office machines at the speed and level of accuracy as required for the position. Manage automated work systems and willingness to keep current in system changes and developments to enable the office or program to continuously improve its service. Provide support to staff to enable them to meet their work requirements including on infrequent occasions some early evening hours to assist in seminar events.

Education and Experience

Required

  • Associate degree in Office Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of one year of clerical experience

Preferred

  • Experience working in a community college or higher education environment.
