A floor tech, also known as a floor care technician or a custodian, is an important member of the Indy Fiber team responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of floors in various facilities. 



Primary responsibilities of a Floor Tech


The primary duties of a floor tech typically include the following:


  • Stripping, waxing, and buffing floors
  • Cleaning and sanitizing floors and carpets
  • Dusting baseboards, vents, and other surfaces
  • Operating floor machines, such as buffers, scrubbers, and carpet extractors
  • Maintaining supplies and inventory
  • Following safety procedures

Secondary responsibilities


In addition to these primary responsibilities, floor techs are often tasked with performing secondary duties, which may include:


  • Cleaning restrooms, lobbies, and other areas
  • Emptying trash and recyclable bins
  • Responding to requests for technical assistance
  • Performing minor maintenance and repairs
  • Assisting with moving furniture and equipment

Skills required for the job
