Part-time faculty are eligible for 25% NWCCD tuition discount for the employee during the semester teaching.

We accept part-time faculty applications all year long when a department or division has a need to fill they refer to the pool" of part-time faculty applications on file. Although we may not have an immediate opening we practice ongoing recruitment to attract exceptional faculty who have experience successfully teaching both in the classroom and online. We also plan to expand our course offerings at a growing number of partner campuses. We are actively recruiting exceptional faculty to teach in many disciplines.

Job Summary Provide high-quality instruction in accordance with the approved course outline of record. Participate in general faculty functions related to the educational program and faculty development activities including assessment of student learning outcomes (SLOs). Assignments may include day, evening, fully online, hybrid, partially online, and/or weekend courses. Part-time, temporary, hourly assignments are on an as-needed basis. Part-time faculty meetings are conducted the week prior to the semester start. Course outlines of record, student learning outcomes to be assessed, and department policies will be provided or reviewed.

The Informational Technology Instructor teaches in the area of Information Technology, Computer Science, and related courses. This may include the goal of offering instruction that will lead to various types of IT certifications. Additional courses related to cyber security and computer applications are included in this job posting. The position requires an ability to work in both traditional and non-traditional settings and modes, flexible scheduling formats, online instruction, compressed video, etc.. Course offers include classes encompassing hardware and software skills necessary for the IT professional. Some courses will focus on industrial computing and have a strong emphasis on networks and computer. In addition, the faculty member will provide academic counseling and guidance to students and actively recruiting students into the Information Technology programs.

Supervisory and Management Responsibility Students Reports To: Dean of Career & Technical Education

Education/Qualifications The successful candidate for Computer Science must meet one of the following criteria:

  1. Masters degree or higher in content area from an accredited college or university
  2. Bachelors degree in content area from an accredited college or university AND a Masters degree in a related field
  3. A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of items 1 or 2 above. Applicants applying on the basis of equivalency must complete all Equivalency questions on their application in addition to all other required materials

The successful candidate for IT, Cyber Security, and Computer Applications must meet one of the following criteria:

  1. AAS degree in related field required, bachelors degree preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
    • Excellent computer skills
    • Ability to work in a team with shared responsibilities and agreed upon objectives
    • Competent with modern technology for education and office applications
    • Ability to communicate high expectations for learning and attain high-level student performance
    • Skills necessary to work with broad spectrum of student abilities
    • Interest and ability to incorporate educational technology
    • Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with partner faculty, community stakeholders, and staff

      Working Conditions/Physical Requirements Part-time, temporary, hourly assignments are on an as-needed basis. Classroom, Office, and Lab Settings. Some evenings and weekends as scheduled.

      Experience

      • Experience working in Informational technology field required
      • Experience using technology as an instructional tool preferred
      • Experience coordinating lab activities and purchasing lab supplies preferred
