Position Description

DEFINITION: The Electrical Lineworker Instructor is responsible for the planning, developing, and the teaching of lineman classroom and hands on field training. This part-time instructor will run one 10-week course per quarter or 4 annually.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Receives direct supervision from the Electrical Lineworker Program Chair

Receives general supervision from the Senior Director, Workforce Development

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS: Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Essential Functions: Assist with Electrical Lineworker program development, improvement, revisions, and evaluations. Assist with the Development of new portions of the Electrical Lineworker program. Assist with the selection of textbooks, instructional materials, equipment, and supplies. Teach Classroom and field training for Electrical Lineworker students Assume responsibilities for management of course records, attendance, accident reports, grades, etc. Evaluates student performance Assist with new instructor orientation

Other Important Functions: Type or word process a variety of regular and confidential documents including general correspondence, agendas, reports, class schedules, forms, certificates, contracts, and memos; prepare copies of documents; distribute information. Perform data entry functions as necessary. Assess material, supply and equipment needs for the program and submit requisitions for the ordering of supplies and equipment to maintain an inventory. Assist and participate in the preparation and development of class materials. Assist with identifying opportunities for improving service delivery, guidelines and procedures. Maintain files for Develop and maintain a working and professional relationship with utility employers, students, partnering agencies, college staff and the public. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing Candidate must hold a valid North Carolina Drivers License and have a clean driving record Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of: • Electrical Lineworker Trade • Relevant computer programs and systems

Ability To: Adhere to safety practices and procedures, such as checking equipment regularly and erecting barriers around work areas. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work Communicate clearly and respectfully, both orally and in writing. Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for: Making observations Reading and writing Communicating with others Operating assigned equipment Handling varied tasks simultaneously Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following: Standing or sitting for extended periods of time Operating assigned equipment Handling varied tasks simultaneously Bending, stooping, climbing, or lifting up to 50 pounds Maintain mental capacity, which allow the capability of: Making sound decisions Responding to questions Demonstrating intellectual capabilities

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Minimum Education/Training: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Experience: Have 5 years of experience as a Electrical Lineworker

Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills: Experience teaching Electrical Lineworkers Experience Supervising Electrical Lineworkers Completed a Journeyman Level Electrical Lineworker Program
