Part-Time CNC Lathe & Mill Machinist

Brownsburg, Indiana | $27–$38/hour, based on experience | Flexible Schedule

Looking for a Flexible Machining Opportunity?

Are you an experienced machinist who doesn't necessarily want—or need—a full-time job?

Maybe you're looking to supplement your income, stay active in the trade, work a few days a week, or simply share the experience you've built over the years with the next generation of machinists.

We're looking for an experienced CNC Lathe and Mill Machinist to join our team on a part-time, flexible basis.

Ideally, we're looking for someone who wants to work 2–3 days per week, but we're also open to someone who prefers half-day shifts or another schedule that works for both of us.

Our standard shop hours are 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, and we're willing to discuss a schedule within those hours that makes sense for the right person.

There may also be opportunities for additional hours from time to time, depending on our workload and your availability.

What You'll Do

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes to produce close-tolerance precision components
  • Set up and operate CNC mills as needed
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions
  • Make offsets and minor program edits
  • Select appropriate tooling and optimize setups
  • Develop and troubleshoot fixturing and workholding solutions
  • Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and find practical solutions
  • Help maintain quality documentation and follow our AS9100 quality standards
  • Share your machining knowledge and experience with other members of the team
What We're Looking For

We're looking for a seasoned machinist who knows how to make parts—and knows how to figure things out when something isn't going according to plan.

Ideally, you have:

  • 10+ years of CNC machining experience
  • Strong CNC lathe setup and operation experience
  • Strong CNC mill setup and operation experience
  • The ability to read blueprints and hold tight tolerances
  • A solid understanding of tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining fundamentals
  • G-code editing experience
  • GD&T knowledge
  • Experience making offsets and minor program edits
  • The ability to troubleshoot setups, tooling, and machining problems
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality work
  • A dependable, professional approach to your work
Experience Matters Here

This position could be a great fit for someone who has spent years in the machining trade and wants to keep doing what they enjoy—without committing to a traditional full-time schedule.

We're especially interested in someone who enjoys sharing knowledge and helping others learn.

You don't have to be looking for a management position. You don't have to be looking for a full-time career.

If you have years of experience, know your way around a lathe and mill, and enjoy helping others become better machinists, we'd like to talk with you.

Bonus Qualifications

  • CAM experience (Fusion 360, Mastercam, or similar)
  • Experience with Haas, Mazak, Fanuc, or similar controls
  • Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience
  • Trade school, apprenticeship, or equivalent training
  • Experience troubleshooting difficult machining or setup problems
Why Join Us?

We're an AS9100/ISO-certified machine shop focused on quality, precision, and continuous improvement.

You'll work in a clean, climate-controlled facility with well-maintained CNC equipment and a team that values experience and craftsmanship.

We believe experienced machinists have a lot to offer—not just in the parts they make, but in the knowledge they can pass along to others.

If you're looking for a part-time machining position with flexibility, want to supplement your income, or simply want to stay involved in the trade and share what you've learned, this may be a great fit.
