    Day to Day Job Duties

    Supervising part time staff and volunteers

    Providing customer service and enforcing rules and regulations

    Perform custodial duties including cleaning and maintaining all parts of the public restrooms and empty large park trash cans

    Provide routine maintenance and construction of park areas, amenities and equipment

    Custodial duties mandatory

    Travel and care for satellite park locations

    Documenting and tracking information for records and reports to include Accident/incident reports

    Individual will work in an outdoor environment in various weather conditions, could include extreme hot or cold.

    Assist with and/or manage special event participation

    Some locations require clean up and supervision of open range dog parks

    Open and close facilities

    This position will required that incumbents wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment such as, but not limited to, steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, gloves, or other designated safety attire and equipment in designated areas of risk. Specific requirements will be determined and communicated by the employee’s supervisors based on position assignment.

    Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on the current workloads and department needs.

    Requires a current and valid Driver’s license

    The individual selected for this position will be housed at a primary site but may be scheduled between other park sites/facilities. Schedules will be adjusted seasonally and will vary weekly based on events, facility coverage, and weather.  All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours, overtime, splits shifts or maybe be relocated to another location or job assignment in response to short- term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies including weekends, evenings and holidays.

    Schedule

    This position is a 7 day a week operation including early mornings, evening, weekend and holidays.

    Hours - Average scheduled hours up to 27 hours per week.

    The position you are applying for is designated as Alpha I, requiring the selected candidate to work, regardless of the City’s operational status. All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.

    Training

    As a condition of employment, all employees must attend P&R Connection (Department Orientation). If selected for the position, you will be provided an approximate training date at the time of hire. Training is held from 8:30am-5:00pm, every other Friday, at the Parks & Recreation Administration Building. When an exemption is permittable, a hybrid version of the training is available, but will require training attendance on a weekend.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED, or must possess certification in a related field, and three (3) months of related experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Some locations may require a current and valid driver’s license. Special Requirements: May require operation of a motor vehicle to carry out assigned duties. Program staff may transport patrons. Schedules may vary to include work early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required to meet operational needs. Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Individual location assignments will be determined by current department needs.
