    TITLE: QUALIFICATIONS: REPORTS TO: JOB GOAL: JOB DESCRIPTION Parent & Public Relations Coordinator

    1. Minimum of an associate's degree is required. Bachelor's degree in journalism, Public Relations, English or Type A, B, or C certification preferred.
    2. Minimum of three years responsible experience in writing, editing and/or public relations field is preferred.
    3. Knowledge of social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Linkedin, and Tumblr is essential.
    4. Background in copyediting and layout for publications, such as newspapers or newsletters required.
    5. Ability to write copy for publication that is clear, concise and grammatically correct required.
    6. Ability to assume responsibilities with minimal direct supervision required.
    7. Demonstrated proficiency in the operation of word processing and desktop publishing equipment required.
    8. Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with others required.
    9. Applicants must reside in the district and have first-hand knowledge of the culture and people. Superintendent To promote effective communication between the administrative staff, the School Board and the Borough residents. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    10. Ensure community members receive information related to school and parent programs in an understandable format.
    11. Assist school improvement sites on effective informing of parents of resources and choices available.
    12. Work with appropriate community information providers to inform public.
    13. Assist the Superintendent in development of a public relations plan that includes a process of getting information back to the district on the needs and uses for information and materials by parents and communities.
    14. Generates positive publicity for the Northwest Arctic Borough School District, parents, students and staff by researching, writing and editing press releases and public service announcements for distribution to the media.
    15. Work with superintendent or designee to work with members of the press to develop story ideas and foster good media relations.
    16. Develop talking points for communication on the VHF and radio.
    17. Develops brochures, newsletters and reports for districtwide distribution to assist parents and staff with the educational process.
    18. Researches, writes and edits scripts for electronic media programming.
    19. Creates parent and public information campaigns for District programs.
    20. Assists with quality control of publications involving extensive knowledge of editing, layout and proofreading.
    21. Coordinates recognition of employees, students and community members at School Board meetings.
    22. Coordinates clipping and microfilming of District-related newspaper materials.
    23. Performs other related duties as required.
