Duties
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessionals to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist teachers in providing instructional, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students with diverse learning needs. This role involves working closely with general and special education staff, with flexibility to support students across various grade levels and settings throughout the school day.
Responsibilities
- Support teachers in delivering differentiated instruction and classroom activities
- Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning and IEP goals
- Support students with special needs to promote inclusion and achievement of IEP goals.
- Assist in implementing accommodations, modifications, and behavior support plans
- Help maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
- Assist with classroom management and promote student engagement
- Supervise students during classroom and non-classroom activities as assigned
- Communicate effectively with teachers and staff regarding student needs and progress
- Participate in team meetings and professional development as appropriate
- Ensure accurate documentation as directed and compliance with district policies and procedures
- Accompany students on field trips to assist with supervision.
- Prepare, copy, and distribute instructional materials.
- Assist students with disabilities in daily living activities to maximize participation in school.
- Follow all safety rules and procedures, especially when working with students with special needs.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality of student, family, and staff information
- Work collaboratively with co-workers and school staff
- Support students' social, emotional, and behavioral growth
- Uphold school policies, procedures, and educational standards
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by Administration
Qualifications
- Paraprofessional License/Certification registered with the Regional Office of Education in Kankakee County
- Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills for successful performance
- Experience working with children, particularly students with disabilities, preferred
- Basic knowledge of special education practices, accommodations, and supports
- Ability to follow and implement teacher-directed instructional strategies and interventions
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to support students with diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs
- Ability to support students with physical, mental, learning, and medical needs.
- Ability to build supportive and compassionate relationships with students, especially those with special needs.
- Ability to report information orally and in writing as required.
- Prior experience working with special needs children is preferred.
- Ability to work with a wide range of disabilities, including physical and emotional disabilities.
- Ability to assist with activities of daily living (e.g., mobility, toileting/diapering, use of communication devices).
- Flexibility to adapt to changing student and district needs.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors, including during student activities.
- Ability to travel between schools or district offices as needed.

- $17.28/hour (2026 - 2027 rate)
