    Description

    Paramedic (FT)

    The EMT-Paramedic is a licensed professional responsible for patient care, monitoring and recording vital signs and observing the patient for any physical, mental, or emotional conditions.

    SHIFT: Full-time, Mid-shift (11:00 - 23:00)

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • One year of Critical Care experience.
    • Licensed EMT-P
    • EMT Paramedic License current and in good standing
    • PALS
    • ACLS
    • Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS)

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Takes delegation from the primary RN or physician on duty.
    • IV placement.
    • Operate lab equipment; perform point of care testing and quality controls.
    • Knowledgeable of the operation of lab instruments.
    • Coordinates the patient workflow, problem-solves, and manages ongoing priorities with minimal supervision.
    • Observes patients for condition change and reports observations, conditions, and problems to the licensed nurse.
    • Administer medications per the state
    • Capability to perform vital signs and clean wounds.
    • Performs and records diagnostic measures, treatment, and procedures.
    • Monitor and restock supplies.
    • Placement of splints.
    • Continuously maintain all required certifications.
    • Follows all safety rules on the job. Reports all accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards.

    NONESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor/department director.
    • Attend staff meetings or other company-sponsored or mandated meetings as required.

    JOB COMPETENCIES:

    • Ability to Navigate/Utilize Electronic Medical Record
    • Understand/Comply with Hospital Policy and Procedures.
    • Maintains skill level by continuing education, collaborative training with co-workers and physicians, and annual skills check-offs.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Frequent: Bend, Squat, Twist, Push/Pull up to 20 pounds without assistance; up to 50 with assistance; Lift/Carry up to 20 pounds without assistance; up to 50 pounds with assistance
    • Occasional: Climb, Kneel, Crouch, Distinguish Colors, Exposure to noise/high-pitched noise, Exposure to hazards, allergens, toxins/chemicals/detergents/radiation
    • Rarely: Exposure to potential electric shock; Work in a confined area
    • Other: Must be able to wear personal protective equipment, including gloves, gowns, goggles, and masks.
    • Potential exposure to infectious disease.
    • Potential for cuts and bruises.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • OSHA Category I: Normal routine involves exposure to blood, bodily fluid, or tissue as part of their employment.
